Muslim Association of Nigeria (Old Kent Road Mosque) London SE1 5JH is looking for a qualified and experienced Minister of Religion/Education Adviser to further advance the objectives of the Association within and outside our immediate community.

Job description:

To instil Islamic religious guidance, practices, and leadership to the local Muslim community in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Qur'an and the Sunnah of Prophet Mohammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Lead prayers, establish and promote educational and extracurricular programs for adults and youths. Lead the establishment of a unified Muslim community welcoming to all Muslims from different backgrounds and cultures, engage with the larger community to promote friendship and understanding between Muslims and non-Muslims in the entire community.

Skills required:

The candidates must have sound knowledge and understanding of Islamic faith. Profound knowledge of Holly Quran and Hadith and other important Islamic scriptures and text are required. It will be highly recommended that the applicants show an excellent skill in public speaking and ability to explain, narrate and interpret the Islamic Holy Scriptures. Be the link between the Religious leaders and the community, providing social and spiritual leadership (social mobility) of the generality of the community. The candidate should also be able to write and speak fluently in English and Yoruba. Candidate must have excellent communication skills. Candidate should be eager to take initiatives and willing to go extra mile.

Required experience:
Minister of religion or equivalent for similar position of 2- 3 years.

Required education:

Bachelor’s degree and above from a recognised and reputable university.


Required language:
English and Yoruba


Duties:

As a minister of religion and Education Adviser, the candidate’s duty may involve the following which is non – exhaustive -

  • Develop and manage community programmes for Council for Religious Affairs, Elders’ Group and extracurricular activities for Youth wing of the Association with Islamic religious guidance, practices in according to the teachings of the Holy Qur'an and the Sunnah of Prophet Mohammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

  • Establish and promote educational and extracurricular programs for adults and youths; lead the establishment of a unified Muslim community welcoming to all Muslims from different backgrounds and cultures.

  • Engage with the larger community to promote friendship and understanding between Muslims and non-Muslims in the community. Visiting to other places for fundraising, contact by telephone for appointment and co-coordinating volunteers and mosque community groups.
